Polar PVC Curtains vs Standard PVC Curtains Selection Guide
Many buyers confuse standard PVC strip curtains with Polar PVC Curtains and place orders only by appearance. Wrong selection may cause common troubles including brittle cracking in cold conditions, surface tackiness, poor sealing and shorter service life. The fundamental difference comes from modified PVC formulation, which leads to varied temperature resistance, Shore hardness, low-temperature toughness, impact resistance and cost, suiting different working conditions.![]()
Standard PVC Curtains feature an operating temperature range of -10°C to 50°C. Within this range, physical properties stay stable. It has a hardness of 80±5 Shore A, relatively rigid with good vertical stiffness, and resists self-adhesion under normal conditions.
Recommended applications: general workshops, air-conditioned partition zones, supermarkets, fresh-keeping cold rooms, normal loading bays and sorting areas where temperature rarely drops below -10°C. It is a cost-effective and widely adopted option.
Polar PVC Curtains are specially developed for cold environments, performing reliably from -30°C to 50°C. Its hardness is 65±5 Shore A, much softer than the standard version. It remains flexible at sub-zero temperatures, resisting stiffening, whitening and cracking under bending or impact. It closes tightly to block cold air loss and cut down heat exchange, helping cold rooms save energy.
One critical note: Polar PVC Curtains are NOT high-temperature resistant. If Polar PVC Curtains are used continuously in warm surroundings, the surface will turn tacky and the strips stick together, bringing inconvenience during operation and speeding up ageing.
They also behave differently against wind: standard strips hang straight and swing less in airflow, while soft Polar PVC Curtains seal better but swing more under strong wind. In terms of price, modified low-temperature raw materials cost more, so Polar PVC Curtains are higher-priced for the same size.
Choose standard PVC curtains for positive temperature environments. Choose Polar PVC Curtains for areas consistently below -10°C, such as frozen warehouses, quick-freezing workshops and cold-chain loading docks.
Correct selection helps you avoid application mistakes, guarantee on-site performance and control total cost while extending the service life of your PVC strip curtains.
